Original Mercedes-Benz Tires & Wheels at Kelowna Mercedes-Benz
Should you get a quote from elsewhere, please bring it in so we can discuss and compare. Even the difference in a speed or load rating can significantly affect the price of tires. Tires, although from the same manufacturer and possibly model, do have differences that you may not see.
The "MO" (Mercedes-Benz Original) designation means that Mercedes-Benz Engineers have requested that the tire manufacturer make differences to a tire model (stiffer, softer, quieter, traction compounds, camber adjusted, etc.) exclusively for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. These differences affect comfort, performance and, above all, safety.

Mercedes-Benz Tires Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to change from all-season to winter tires?
It depends on the weather conditions of your area. Winter tires are made with a softer rubber compound and more aggressive tread design to perform better when temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celsius. All-season or summer tires will harden in cold temperatures, reducing their stopping performance. Winter tires also enhance traction by up to 20% on snow as well as 10% on wet surfaces. They are specifically designed to offer the best stopping and handling performance on snow and ice.
Do winter tires cost more than summer or all-season tires?
Winter snow tires are similarly priced to all-season tires, and it's worth it to make an investment in winter tires to reduce your risk of an accident. By alternating summer and winter tires, you also gain the benefit of increasing how long your tires last while providing superior safety by improving your stopping and cornering ability in each season.
Why do I need winter tires if I already have ABS and traction control?
While traction control improves your car's traction moving forward, and an Antilock Braking System (ABS) helps prevent break lockup under hard stopping, these technologies still rely on the grip of your tires where they contact the road. Winter tires are able to reduce stopping distances in poor weather conditions by an average of more than a full car length, and offer even more safety when combined with ABS and traction control.
Can I wait until it snows before thinking about buying winter tires?
If you wait until the first snowfall to purchase your tires you will have to face the "mad rush" of car owners looking to change over their tires. You also risk a higher likelihood of an accident.
Considering that all-season tires begin to lose their grip when temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celsius, cold temperatures are another factor that many fail to take into consideration. Rest at ease knowing that a winter tire and wheel package is ready for your vehicle before the weather changes.
Can I put tires on just the front drive wheels and leave all-seasons in the back?
No. Winter tires must be mounted on all four wheels to maintain equal traction and offer proper safety. Mixing and matching summer and winter tires can also contribute to unpredictable handling and uneven tire wear.
Why use only Mercedes-Benz Genuine Alloy Wheels?
With the installation of our Genuine Wheels, we guarantee the performance, safety, and quality on every one of our vehicles, as each wheel is tested on it's specific vehicle to ensure it meets the high engineering standards set by Mercedes-Benz.
The target goals are absolute true running, high thermal conduction, and optimum brake ventilation – and of course top quality. On the road, your wheels and tires are your only contact, and ultimately, your control. Our wheels are designed to meet these same performance expectations.
Why Should You Avoid Aftermarket Wheel Installation?
Typically aftermarket wheel designs, testing, and production quality are unknown to Mercedes-Benz as we are not consulted by their engineers. Without strict adherence to Mercedes-Benz testing standards, the safety, performance and quality of these aftermarket products cannot be guaranteed.
Poorly tested aftermarket wheel designs may cause inadequate brake ventilation, which can cause brake discs to overheat and warp under severe load. Aside from the obvious safety issue, this can lead to an expensive repair.
Improper wheel design can affect offset, placing wheels to a more inward or outward position. The widened or narrowed vehicle track can cause steering geometry changes, increased wear on wheel bearing and axle joints.
Some aftermarket wheels require wheel spacers to clear brake calipers. Wheel spacers can put added stress on suspension components and affect safety.
The hub bore of some aftermarket wheels does not properly fit Mercedes-Benz vehicles hub. If this is the case, significant vibration has been found to be a result as the wheel is essentially only balanced on the hub.
